The Society of The Cincinnati of Maryland, in partnership with the Maryland Center for History and Culture is pleased to invite nominations for the Maryland Revolutionary Era Teacher of the Year Award, recognizing exceptional educators who have demonstrated outstanding teaching skills in the field of American history, with a focus on the American Revolution & the Founding Era.
About the Award
Recognizing and Celebrating the Impassioned Teacher of America’s Founding Era
The Society of the Cincinnati of Maryland in partnership with MCHC announces with pleasure its sponsorship of the annual Maryland Revolutionary Era Teacher of the Year, recognizing an outstanding state educator teaching the history of America’s Founding Era with emphasis on the American Revolution.

Requirements for Teacher Nominations
We are pleased to invite nominations for the Maryland Revolutionary Era Teacher of the Year. This award aims to honor teachers who have made a significant impact on their students' understanding and appreciation of the history of America’s founding era with emphasis on the American Revolution.
Please THOROUGHLY review all requirements for teacher nominations below before submitting your nomination application.

Must currently teach in a Maryland public or private school
Must teach American history, with a focus on the American Revolution and the founding era
Must demonstrate exceptional teaching skills, creativity, and dedication to student learning

Teaching Effectiveness:
Demonstrated ability to engage students in the subject matter and promote deep understanding of American history.Creativity and Innovation:
Use of innovative and effective teaching methods, materials, and activities to promote student learning.Student Impact:
Evidence of the teacher's impact on student learning, including student achievement and enthusiasm for American history.

Prize Details
Award Winner Prize Details
The award winner will receive a monetary prize and recognition at a ceremony hosted by the Maryland Center for History & Culture. The award winner's school will also be recognized for their exceptional history education program. This years award ceremony will be hosted on June 25, 2026 with a time to be announced at a later date.

FAQs
When will the award be presented?
The award will be presented at the History Makers Awards ceremony hosted by the Maryland Center for History & Culture on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Who can apply?
Applicants may either apply individually, or be nominated by another teacher, school, school board, or member of the public.
When are the award application deadlines?
Applications will be accepted until May 15, 2026.
